Abstract

Abstract. The monograph of scientists from the Department of Logic and Methodology of Science of the G. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine “Essays on Logic, Ontology and Axiology of Modern Scientific Knowledge” contains a number of theoretical ideas and concepts that can be useful to specialists in Ukrainian Studies in understanding their problems. At first glance, some of these ideas and concepts have no direct connection with the current problems of today's Ukraine. However, all this is necessary in a situation where the whole world and Ukraine as a component of it are faced with numerous dangerous challenges, such as the rapid introduction of the latest achievements of science and technology, the widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI), the scope of whose capabilities and impacts are still unknown, the aggravation and deepening of ecological and economic crises, the acceleration of difficult-to-predict climate change, the aggravation of international conflicts and large-scale wars, etc. These challenges are correlated with the study of the relevant dimensions of scientific knowledge, its internal and external assessments, that is, the need for a comprehensive philosophical analysis of the role of science and scientific knowledge in solving modern problems, the interaction of science with other social institutions and society in general is becoming more urgent.
At the same time, it is worth considering that modern scientific knowledge is immeasurable, and the boundaries of both itself and its components are often conditional, they depend on the angle from which this knowledge is viewed and what specific criteria for its scientificity are chosen. This also applies to the philosophy of science. The authors of the reviewed monograph have followed a path that generally eliminates the danger of considering their position as the only correct one and capable of covering the entire scope of the problems of the philosophy of science. At the same time, the subject fields studied by the authors of the monograph are conceptually significant and important for intellectual communities. In general, the monograph is a professional collective work and is capable of directly enriching the methodological arsenal of Ukrainian Studies or tangentially influencing it.
