Abstract

At the end of 19th and on the beginning of 20th century Polish opera was experiencing a renaissance. A large contribution to this process made Ukrainian singer Solomiya Krushelnytska. 1898–1902 she was the Prima Donna of the Great Theatre in Warsaw. The Warsaw Period in the creative career was the time of her huge success by the Polish public. The article examines the circumstances of the conflict between the singer and her competitors that Warsaw press unfairly interpreted as polonophobia of the Ukrainian prima donna
