Ukrainian “Cherkassy”: Appearance on Historical Stage in the Context of Civilization Processes and Historiography’s Myth

Abstract

The problem of exonym “Cherkasy”, its appearance, interpretation and transfer on the Ukrainian population Iis analyzed and solved. It’s denied the genetic link of Caucasian Circassians with the emergence of Cherkasy town on the Middle Dnieper. The version about Carpathian origin of this name in conjunction with the foundation of the city by native inhabitants of the region after the Battle of Blue Waters (1362) is proposed and argued.
