Ukrainian Technical Elite in the European Scientific Space: Cooperation of Scientists from Kharkiv Practical Technological Institute with the West European Higher Technical Schools (end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century)

Abstract

The experience of collaboration of the Kharkiv practical technological institute with higher technical institutes of Western Europe on the border of XIX–XX centuries is considered. The influence of using of foreign achievements for the improvement of educational process and practical work of students was illustrated. Information about the results of scientific exchanges of professors of KhPTI as well as the geography of these journeys were given. The results of scientific cooperation of leading scientists of KhPTI with foreign scientific-educational establishments and industrial enterprises are illustrated. It is shown that knowledge of foreign language for students and professors is the necessary precondition for successful integration of Ukraine to the European scientific and educational space.
