Civilization Dimension of the Ukrainian National Character

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the establishment and development processes of the national character of Ukrainian people and to the analysis of the specificity of Ukrainian national character influence on the state formation processes. The author substantiates the definition of Ukrainian national character, describes the main functions of the national character the presence of which gives the possibility to provide the stability of Ukrainian society and its ability to resist the external destructive influences and to give the adequate answers to the “challenges of time”. It was proved that the civil potential of the Ukrainian national character is defined by the equilibration of the processes of national self-consciousness and conative (activity and behavioural) manifestations and also the degree of development of the subject features of a person and of society.
