Theoretical and Methodological Basis of Application of Civilizational Approach in the Ukrainian Studies

Abstract

In the article the general theoretical bases of research of Ukrainianness in the context of criteria and characteristics of European civilization are presented. The new definition of civilization is formulated. The principles of evolutionary-typological approach to classification of societies as the part of civilizations are defended. A structure model of European civilization where Ukrainianness plays the role one of borderland communities is suggested.
