The Role of Ethnology in the Modern Ukrainian Studies for the Consolidation of Ukrainian People in the European Civilization Advancement

Abstract

The place of ethnology in modern Ukrainian Studies is exposed. The factors which influenced forming of the Ukrainian identity in the period of statelessness are determined. The influence of the processes of migration and assimilation on changing of ethno-linguistic structure of Ukrainian population is outlined. The consequences of inertial influence of ethno-linguistic processes in the period of statelessness in modern Ukraine are founded out. The importance of Ukrainian Studies in forming of the Ukrainian identity and consolidation of Ukrainian people is determined. Attention is also accented on the role of national elite in the realization of the European civilization choice of Ukraine.
